Pretty sure this a personal record for a drop & hook…37 hours! Arrived at 1900hrs Sunday evening for what I thought was a live unload scheduled for 2030hrs Sunday evening. Took about 30 minutes to get through the gate and was directed to park in a numbered spot on their lot and wait for a phone call for a door. Sat up until midnight waiting for a call and finally gave up and went to bed figuring that the onsite security would come knocking if I missed the call. Woke up around 0800hrs Monday morning with no missed calls, so got up and dressed to continue the waiting game for a door. My DM calls around 0830hrs with my reload that ends up being a preloaded trailer at the same location going to the DFW area for delivery Tuesday morning at 0400hrs.

Drop the trailer and head back to the guard shack to check in and let them know that I’m now a drop & hook instead of a live unload and give them the pickup number for the preloaded trailer. They inform me that the trailer is loaded and rattle off a trailer number that isn’t even close to any of our trailer numbers. I give them the trailer number from my load information and they finally figure out that they loaded my load on the wrong trailer and now I have to contact the broker to un#### their mistake. I call it in to my office and they tell me to sit tight while they get it straightened out. I sat around until almost 1100hrs Monday with no contact from the people in my office or the shipper, so figured I might as well hit the bunk just in case they get it figured out early enough in the afternoon so I could still make on time delivery Tuesday morning. Woke up around 1500hrs and noticed that they finally moved the trailers into adjacent doors to trans load them. Sat around for the rest of the day watching to see if they moved the trailers out of the door and back onto the loaded line and nothing changed…trailers were still in a door at 2200hrs Monday night. Called it a night and went to bed.

Woke up around 0700hrs Tuesday morning and noticed a couple of missed calls from after I went to bed, so I headed up to the guard shack to confirm that my trailer was loaded so I could finally leave. On the way up I walked past another driver who asked me how long I’ve been waiting, which I responded since Sunday night. He informed me that he’s been waiting to get unloaded since LAST THURSDAY, which wasn’t surprising after reading through the Google reviews for this dump. Ended up being a few minutes short of 37 hours gate to gate. Can’t wait to see what ######## excuse my company gives for denying my request for detention pay… I’m sure it’ll be a dandy.
