TL;DR: Are walmart truck entrances listed on the Garmin Dezl's pretty accurate? Walmarts can sometimes have dangerous entrances. So far, both stores I tested the trucker entrance has matched what the walmart entrance handbook says.

Hey everyone! I finally got into trucking! I got on schneider on a Walmart Dedicated account and have been loving it so far. I had a question that maybe someone on here had the answer to or had decent experience with (Mods, If this is in the wrong area, I apologize, I was unable to find more specific forums that were involving GPS device questions).

So first thing I learned is that the company GPS Schneider provides in their tablets absolutely SUCKS. The thing loses connection all the time, it will completely give you the wrong turn on a route its trying to send you down. Short and simple? If you use their GPS, you're setting yourself up for failure. Every instructor I had basically said the same thing.

A friend ended up gifting me a Garmin Dezl 725, and I noticed that you can plan your arrival for the various entrances at Walmarts. Some of these Walmarts have some really dangerous, but very inviting entrances that look like the right path to go, but once you're in? You learn that you're in a very bad situation. Fortuantely! Schneider provides us a book that and sometimes a walmart video on the NTransit app that allows you to see the correct entrances and how they recommend trucks get to the docks.

So far, I've tested two Walmarts and verified that the truck entrances are correct and align with the guidance book (That its not sending you into a customer entrance like Google Maps would). So my question is, Any Walmart or Dedicated Walmart drivers use a Garmin Dezl that can vouch for the accuracy of truck entrances for walmarts?

I can manually change the entrance if it doesn't align with the book, but I was curious how accurate they are, since they seem to be made by the Garmin Community. Also don't worry, I will ALWAYS verify the GPS route before trusting it.

    Thanks for any help!

They have map printouts in the office showing the truck route of the stores if a driver asks.

I would highly recommend using Google Maps, zoom in on the Walmart and looking for the truck route entrance and then dropping a pin in Google Maps. Now open your GPS and enter the Lat/Long of that dropped pin. Why wait until the GPS leads you astray when you can use the company maps or Google maps and plug the correct entrance into your GPS. No cop is going to accept "I was just following my GPS" when it causes you to block traffic or end up where you should not be. Professionals take charge to get the results then require.

If you have your dezl connected to your phone with their app once you do all your research and drop a pin in Google maps , you can select "share" and send that pin right to dezl and your GPS without having to type in the lat/long.

I do this for every new load or load out location, then after verifying I go back and save it with descriptive name for future trips.

If I want to ensure I come in a certain direction or to avoid an area the GPS might send me for specific locations, I'll actually do multiple waypoints and pin drops and label them in order (stop1, stop2, stop3 etc), then save it as a route .
