Its coming to that time of year I need to get chains and batteries for my truck. What are some good batteries to buy for the winter where I don't have to worry. Any suggestions for good quality or some good places to purchase for good deals

I buy my batteries from Freightliner or international dealer.
Snow Chains, I have the same set for 15 years. Not sure where to buy them. -
Get your best deal, I read most batteries today, including DieHard and Optima, are made by Clarios( formerly Johnson Controls) or a company called East Penn. Everstart( Walmart) are made by them, but not sure if they stock class 8 semi batteries. A dealer is going to screw ya', so any truck parts dealer would be best. Years ago when Johnson Controls was still in Milwaukee, I hauled a load of lead bars there. After backing in, I see all these empty battery cases on pallets. Every battery I could think of was there. I said to the forklift guy, what kind of batteries do you make? He said, pal, get your best deal because inside, they are all the same. I say, they have a chip inside today, that shorts the battery out 1 month after the warranty expires,,,,but that's me.
hope not dumb twucker, tscottme, DeathByCheetos and 1 other person Thank this. -
Chains at freightliner dealer. Same thing with batteries. $81 a battery for group 31. Chains used to be $57 a set. Call around too because prices vary. I have chains I can sell in Bartlett IL, 2 are new, 5 are used. Will sell for half price.DeathByCheetos Thanks this.

For batteries, I switched over to Lithium, for weight savings and longevity. Spendy, at over 250$ a battery, $350 with battery heaters, but better quality and took 400 lbs off the truck in battery weight alone. You can get 7 years out of Lithium batteries. I also had to redo my cables. Plus you can "brick" the truck by turning off the bluetooth batteries with your phone, another tool in theft deterrence.

X2 powers from batteries plus, 4 year warranty, used to be a little under 300 per battery, just looked them up and they are now $460 which is pretty insane, I will say that I had one fail, which I turn pretty much wiped out the others and they were replaced no questions asked, this was at the three year mark so there's that, but there is now in hell I would pay $460 per
