Some of the older drivers berating the newer ones have forgotten that a lot of the newer drivers out there, especially ones that have just started their careers don’t have choice when it comes to driving a truck with an automatic or manual transmission.
We used to have manual transmission trucks in the fleet but we retired and sold them off years ago. It was the same story when I started with Western Express 11 years ago. Back then the company was transitioning from manual transmissions to automatics (The manual Cascadias were on their way out,the manual Volvos were mostly sold off or sitting at the Nashville terminal pending removal).
Me personally I would prefer a manual but I don’t have $150K to $200K in spare change jingling in my pocket to pay for a new truck.
Used trucks aren’t exactly on the “Kmart Blue Light Special” list either.

TB John and Lonesome Thank this.

If they report to DAC or Hire right, It will show up on your record as FAILED PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST..But it is not a D.O.T. test and is only pre-employment so it does not affect your license..It can affect future opportunities with other employers though..

I was diagnosed with type 2 in 2018. I’m now down to just one pill a day, compared to the four I started with, and I’ve never had any issues. I once couldn’t provide a sample because I have shy bladder syndrome, which I didn’t even know existed, so now I only do hair follicle tests.

Only hair follicle? Not possible. Only one is accepted by FMCSA at this time: urine. Any others given are only used for the company and do not satisfy the legal requirement federally.

Then again, this is USA. Totally not in the know about any other country.

    Lonesome Thanks this.
