They’ve had one OOS the last 24 months, but not in a hazmat vehicle.

I’m not saying it’s impossible to run junk equipment, but definitely more difficult than your average OTR job.

This particular job is local. I don’t care to go OTR.

I meant the average non-hazmat job. The fuel companies have to submit the paperwork for their annual tests and inspections to be able to load at the racks. Everything has to be current. If you were working for a place that didn’t want to repair their trailers you could have someone at a rack “see” what needs fixed and lock the trailer out until proof of repair.

Considering that a new gas tank is upwards of $110k, keeping the older trailers in top mechanical condition is sound business. In my chemical tank company we had several trailers that were made in the 80s that would always pass any roadside inspections, as well as the annual, bi-annual and five year inspection. And most chemical plants checked to make sure the date were in compliance.

Last gig I had in Texas they had a trailer built in 1964. Smoothbore. They called it Fireball as it had caught fire one time for some reason. I hated that thing lol

I sent the company in question an email and they actually responded I would qualify for employment. They do seem desperate for drivers.
