lol this dog has seen some miles! He's just got that look! Enjoying his life, that’s for sure! I think picking the right dog is key if you’re going to have a long term truck dog. When I first got into trucking a had a big boned German Sheppard I tried out on the road. It wasn’t a good match. Dog just had too much energy to be in the truck all day.Siinman, Sons Hero, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this.

small breeds and mature dogs seem to be be the answer. I would of never picked a small dog, but no one else could take her. And after 2.5 years with this one, i would get another when this one passes

A word of caution for anyone looking for a truck dog. There becomes a bond that’s unmistakable unbreakable with them. You don’t have to reach for them cause they are always there. One day there will come a time the tables turn. Ours was 8 months ago. He could no longer jump in on his own he needed help. It didn’t bother me to help him what bothered me was I seen after all we done that broke him. It caused me to park my truck. Just be with him. You want a trucking dog be prepared for that commitment or don’t get one. -
I have my dog groomed every 3 weeks during the summer and every 4-6 weeks depending on weather in the winter. It helps let the skin breath better and makes them feel much better. I seen a real big difference in my last pup Bear that went on the truck with me a lot. He had kidney failure and when we started doing his grooming every 3 weeks it gave him more energy. Could always see the difference in the winter time so tried to keep that schedule with himtscottme, FullMetalJacket and wore out Thank this.
