My permit department is telling me California overweight permits take 2-3 days. How do you plan around this when trying to run the spot market? This is absolutely ridiculous. It’s not superload stuff. Just 80k load and they don’t recognize the flip axle?

The individuals I haul for get my permits the same day. Annual or one way runs. I’m in Commiefornia.
This includes the Purple permit.Last edited: Dec 2, 2025

Do you have a California inspection report for your 4 axle truck?
If not they will not issue you an over weight permit for that axle.Oxbow, Landincoldfire, cke and 3 others Thank this. -
I would imagine not considering he was talking about cheating pusher weight to get more on his steers in another thread.FerrissWheel, Landincoldfire, cke and 1 other person Thank this.

I had forgotten that little piece
I see bootlegging in his future.
At least knowing you don’t know is better than where things stand.
this is the kind of thing that drives me insane.FerrissWheel, cke, AFC and 2 others Thank this. -
I don’t. So that’s what’s required to get the weight for that axle? Good to know. If I can help it, I’m not coming back. We don’t have customers in California, just load boards. I would have to wait 2-3 days just to get permits after picking up the load. Can’t get permits with load board loads. They cancel and change all of the time.

I didn’t have this issue at all the times I came to California delivery and pick ups with flatbed od loads. Same day. Though the times coming to California it would be a long trip and maybe I received the permits on the second day of driving. California and New York City…in my book pathetic. I understand NYC but the whole state of California. They have plenty of CHP with portable trucks. Freaking assign them to making permits!

Thank you for the info. I have it now.Diesel Dave Thanks this.

Not trying to cheat and if I was never would broadcast it. You’ve seen from my threads I’m a complete rookie to heavy haul and machinery in general. My mantra has been as of recent thanks to Truckers Report: stay with 7 axles for couple of years. Learn and take it slow. Besides I’ve bought tickets to this Disneyland. I might as well enjoy the experience.FerrissWheel, The_vett, JonJon78 and 1 other person Thank this.
