If worse comes to worse, you can apply for non-cdl box truck jobs, just as a way to make a paycheck for the time being.

Also, attend the cdl school anyway and get that cdl in your pocket, because you'll need it, hopefully sooner rather than later.

 

It can be tough but it is possible. I am proof ... Felony conviction, 5 years in federal prison. I got hired while in CDL school and still on home confinement during last 6 months of my sentence. Now I'm a rare exception but I found a small agriculture commodity company. Started local, and 6 months later went regional.

Now 5 years later I'm the lead driver and this will be my 3rd year clearing 6 figures.

Lots of variables..... But it is possible. Biggest keys are being very open with the boss and PO (if you have one) and out working and out performing. Not just with the company you work for (CDL or non CDL job) but with customers and drivers from other companies you run into.

This company is great and not planning on moving, but I have 3 other small commodity haulers that have expressed interest multiple times in hiring me. Hopefully that will also make them more open to taking a chance with others in our situation.

I think it is great that others are out helping these guys with help on here. I went through some hard times and I just finished with CDL school again as my CDL expired years ago. I now have my A with tanker/dou/trip endorsements. I have been out of the field for many years and I am getting back into driving soon. It felt so good to get back in the seat again and with perseverance I have an interview where I am moving to in 1 week. I just want to thank everyone who helps all of us on here with questions and problems that all of us go through. I never gave up. So GioRoss511 don't give up and see what Blackjackco went through.
