schneider gives impression they are just trying to get some kind of govt award for hiring alot of people. doesn't feel like they care too much about retention.

at orientation they forced EVERYONE to use SCHNEIDERS medical examiner even if you got your own exam done recently. i am not sure if against regs but still eliminates you pick your own.

where they clearly breach regulations is when the MOTORCARRIER aka schneider approaches drivers about needing to get sleep apnea tests. this respiratory tests is for the MEDICAL EXAMINER not the MOTOR CARRIER. so it's a breach of regulations which wrongfully gets alot of drivers placed on cpap machine.

at my home terminal most of my bosses and coworkers were on a cpap machine. then schneider approached me to take the test. and at that moment i quit. keep in mind it wasn't my medical examiner approaching me about it, it was schneider, which was against the regulations. because anything relating to respiratory is for the medical examiner. the only thing relating to medical that motor carrier can do is random drug tests(not respiratory tests).

Every carrier I’ve ever worked for has required a new DOT physical regardless of how recent my existing certification was.

I won’t get into a debate about sleep studies. I’ve been a CPAP user for 18 years, and it changed my life for the better. I get your point about who brings it up, the carrier or the medical professionals, so I’m not debating that.

Hope you find what you’re looking for.

Retention is the least of their concerns. Nothing but a low paying revolving door with bs policies.

Burn up and / or freeze to death in their alarm for everything trucks.

How are they getting drivers in the first place?

I of course can't speak for others -- but in my case, they were the only one that I applied with that actually gave me a chance.

I had a really inconsistent job history at that point...so the other starter carriers that I tried blew me off.
