no but there are ridiculous laws that say it must be unloaded and locked away out of reach, so in other words, you cant have a loaded gun by your side.

That all depends on the state. Some states it has to be unloaded and secured outside of the passenger compartment. Other states you can have it right up there on the dash. Others don't care if you have it by your side...they just don't want to see it. Others it HAS to be visible. If you are going to carry, you have to know the law in EVERY jurisdiction you are going to pass through.

is a loaded gun in a vehicle exempt from the 1000ft of a school zone law.
-
Probably not.

That depends on a lot of things. What state are you in? What city are you in? Are you just "passing through" on the road or are you dropping a kid off at the school?
In most cases, you can live next door to a school...clearly inside of the 1000' "gun free zone"...yet you are not prohibited from owning/possessing/carrying while on your own property. -
That is completely incorrect as well. State law prevails. For example, in Utah it is perfectly legal to have a concealed firearm on your person, locked and loaded in your vehicle. In New Mexico it is legal to have it on your person as long as it's visible. You can check out the laws in the states you are traveling through at handgunlaw.us or opencarry.org

im going off of wisconsin law. and the "gun free school zone" is a federal law not a municipality so its either a country wide yes its legal or no to being legal to have a loaded weapon in a car in a school zone (as long as the state your in its legal to have a loaded weapon in a car in the first place)

On your property is one thing, but a vehicle is totally different and they cant be grouped together in a statement.
Yes im aware that on your property you can have a loaded gun but you CAN NOT walk off your property with a loaded open carry gun within a 1000 feet of ANY school property not just schools themselves. This information i have is from open carry.org -
Thoughts and prayers go to the driver and his family. So sad when you can't even do your job without the fear of idiots doing something to you.
