It sounds like everyone or most everyone thinks the 40 route is better

Most everyone does live out there. 95-20 is the route you want

Because of weather? Forecast shows nothing.

Weather is the least of it. It’s harder pulling. The gorge is still a mess. Asheville, Greensboro, Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock. Not to mention the traffic between Memphis and Little Rock. But you do you

    ncmickey and 86scotty Thank this.

I traveled the 40 route a couple days ago. Now I am heading back (dallas TX to raleigh NC.)

The worst of the 40 route was the Appalachians. Thats prob the "gorge". Lots of construction. Traffic moved very slow. Added 30-45 minutes onto my travel time maybe. I hit a city, i forget which one, at rush hour. Took the beltway and it was fine. Nashville was a breeze. I hit it in the evening. It was a great route except for the traffic in the gorge in the mountains.

Ok. You asked my opinion. So why are you trying to argue against it. Go whichever way you. That’s the beauty of opinions. They are just like buttholes. Everyone has one, and everyone thinks the other’s stink.

Yep, It's called the Gorge. It's where flooding from Hurricane Helene took a section of 40 out. You were in my neighborhood around there.

Glad you got it done. No route you could've taken would've been without a little pain.

Not sure about 95/20 that ElmerFudpucker mentioned because I've never mapped it or taken it that way.

    ElmerFudpucker Thanks this.

It takes no more time to run and even saves alittle to go 40 to 52 to 77 to 81 to 40 but you have Fancy Gap and 81 sucks.. but skips the gorge.
I prefer to run 95 to 20 myself. Just have to hit Atlanta at a ‘good’ time… (and alittle luck)

    ElmerFudpucker Thanks this.
