According to indeed, they're hiring around here. I suppose if you just want something to do for the next seven weeks while you keep looking for a more permanent position, you're in luck. And it's easy to explain why you left your last job.

They're advertising temporary full time jobs here too. It sounds like they have a few choices too.

Not quite, trucking companies still consider that as having too many jobs (if you are with one for a short time and then leave to another). Plus, I've applied to 10 Roads recently and heard nothing back from any managers or recruiters.

When I applied there were so many voices in the background when I was talking to the recruiter 4 years ago. You could tell they had a number of them trying to fill all those vacancies.

When I worked at 10 Roads out of Sioux Falls I noticed a couple of the old dry vans ended up for sale literally across the street from my house. They were $7k. I knew they had automatic lift axles, which I find nifty. That and air release for unlocking the fifth wheel jaws were the two mechanical nifty things I'd never encountered before.

If they're cheap enough I might buy one of the trailers... I know too much about how they treated tractors to buy one unless it were so cheap as to be essentially free, like, $5-10k for a 500k mile tractor or less. I still have the VIN from my favorite, T680 4975. Maybe I'll find it for pennies on the dollar someday lol.

RIP 10 Roads. They hired me so that I could escape my hardest job ever, Sysco, and they paid me more. Actually made me sad to hear they're shutting down. I've never had a job or done something that has disappeared before. It was really chill as I essentially never talked to anyone and was home every day unless weather didn't permit, and when that happened, I learned to REALLY appreciate having a sleeper cab. They also paid an hourly rate for what the route was expected to take even if you got done early, which I appreciated.

Fell in love with Kenworth T680s there, which is my favorite tractor of any kind I've ever actually had the chance to drive (International LT, Mack Anthem, Volvo VNL, Freightshaker Crashcadia, one random International Eagle at Sysco)

There were days that sucked, but not many. When I was at Sysco, my coworkers and I would scheme every day trying to find something that paid better home every day and was easier. 10 Roads was that mythical job. I went from $27.13 to $38/hr and it felt like winning the lottery. Every day at sysco was harder than any day at 10 Roads. I'm still grateful to Sysco for certain reasons but man. Hate to see em fall.

It was the easiest job I ever had with the least random stupid crap from other people.

I also found a kitten under my drive tires once during a pretrip. I couldn't keep him, sadly, but it was hard to give the adorable thing up. 20250704_065210.jpg 20250606_234502.jpg 20250606_234632.jpg 20250323_103603.jpg

Gone from 10 roads to no roads all in 30 days, it is rather sad when you think about how this will affect some drivers, hope they can find another job earning enough to help cover their daily necessities.
