It's not an argument. Ask someone in the service dept about excessive idling. Sitting at a low idle you are not building as much oil pressure for lubrication as you are with the throttle engaged. Any time I throw away 60 bucks too me I see waste.

    Incomplete combustion of fuel...carbon deposits....bad doo doo!!!:biggrin_25523:

On a positive note, no matter how slowly my Swift truck is moving, I can pass an idler any day!:biggrin_25525:

That's cool, you keep killing and starting that diesel and saving your money, I'll save money by my engine lasting to 2 million miles without an in frame. You save how you want I'll save how I want. But you haven't said what kinda mileage you get from your truck. Like I stated earlier, I spend a large percentage of my time crawling in and out of the woods in low gear. Then when I'm loaded weigh in at 88-90k and run up and down back roads to get to the mill. I still average over 6 mpg.

7-8 mpg. Depends on load and terrain.

It doesn't seem like I am wasting that much fuel, since I spend about 30% of my drive time under 20 miles an hour. If I drove the majority of my miles on the interstate and at road speed I could attain the same mileage you do, even with the idle time, and with a lot less maintenance. When I drove cross country, I averaged 5-5.5mpg with my truck running constantly for 5 days.
