Did your screen name come from the Almighty SOSA @ChiefKeefy91
US Xpress is the bottom of the barrel. I made no money the month I was employed there (June to July 2025). If they weren't paying a driver with over a decade of experience, imagine how much they're not willing to pay someone who needs the experience. Have you tried applying for Ready-mix driving positions in the area? Dump truck? Straight-truck? Yard Dog?

Haha, no, I’ve just always used that as my username on stuff. I’ve done straight truck, dump truck, trash truck, mixer, and septic truck stuff for the past 5 years off and on (currently back doing septic). I decided to move up to Class A last year and went to Prime (didn’t work for me) for a few months, and then came home and ran local beverage distribution (drivers are salary, helpers are hourly and end up making more). The only reason I’m back in the septic truck is because they needed help and they know my work ethic from when I worked here before. The area I’m in sucks as far as local jobs that pay decent and having openings for them. With child support from my previous marriage decimating my checks on top of having a newborn, it’s a real struggle. Add that on to this being the slow season and not making enough hours, it’s been even tougher. I’m looking to go regional or OTR and be able to send money home to the wife for bills and build a little nest egg. Of course mama bear makes the rules of the house, so she’s not wanting me gone weeks/months at a time, so home time every week or every other week is what I’m looking for. USX for the bill as far as that, but my little fender bender from 3 years ago disqualified me because the officer wrote it up as failure to control speed (I was going 8mph in a 25, clipped a parked trailer coming out of a cul de sac). It was a pretty dumb thing driving a truck that I wrote up as unsafe but drove it anyway because they made me. I should’ve just refused, but at the time i had a mortgage to pay and the other two kids were still little. I won’t let one bad day make my whole life bad though, just gonna trust in the Lord and keep on keepin’ on.bryan21384 and BrothaTrucka513 Thank this.

Forgot to mention, the job I’m at now doesn’t offer insurance, no direct deposit or anything. Paper check every Friday. Having 3 kids and a wife, benefits are my main motivation to make a move.Trucker61016 Thanks this.

I understand the struggle, fam. I've been paying CP for over a decade... for 3 kids actually. As long as you're not in the arrears you'll be fine. There are better job opportunities closer to Texas's major cities. I know a female who teams on FedEx grounds out in Houston, TX. The leg goes from TX to Cali and back to TX. She's gone for 4 days and she's off for 3. That's a $2500 for her. One of my friends told me about a female who lives in Dallas that hauls Frac sand out in Shreveport. She's racking $3500 on good weeks.Gearjammin' Penguin and ChiefKeefy91 Thank this.

Yeah man, I got a good ways behind at one point, but as of now I’m only $176 behind. I’ll actually get an income tax return this year!

I've been getting an income check for the past 5 years. It feels great

It's funny; US Express was a crap company even 40 years ago....

You lost me at " after speaking with a recruiter".
