Well, at least so far, I haven’t received the emails I was told to look for to approve various background checks. Thanksgiving may have had something to do with it, so I’m kinda waiting it out for the next step.

 

I've been retired a few years now but I've known drivers called two weeks later and others called two months later so don't give up hope yet.

 

Yeah hang in there it'll be worth it. I dropped my app in early April and never heard anything until the middle of June. I would advise when you do the actual phone interview and they make a conditional offer at the end of it schedule your "onboarding" for as soon as possible. They gave me the option of several weeks out and I chose the soonest one. I work with guys who could have done the same but are 10 or more spots in seniority behind me because they wanted to delay it a few weeks for whatever reason. It sucks knowing you could have been several spots ahead of where you are seniority wise when rebid happens or jobs get posted. I could've hired on a year before I actually did but I ghosted them that time. That cost me about 20 spots in seniority.

 

Thanksgiving holiday obviously delayed things. Got the slew of emails about background checks et al this morning first thing. Background check has already been completed. So….we wait….

 

Onboarding December 29th. Position is at a PDC in Wellford, SC.

 

I've got a pdf copy of the 24 page pre-trip inspection guide that they'll give you at onboarding. I can email over if you want it? It'll definitely help if you read thru it a few times. It's what you'll be graded on "pass or fail" when you do the pre-trip test on a unit.

Got the X endorsement back on my license this morning. But I screwed up a bit.

Since I was basically applying for a new license, I needed to check off the endorsements I wished to have. I’ve always had the Doubles/Triples endorsement, but forgot to check it on this “new” application. So I ended up only getting the HazMat and Tanker combo, X.

Don’t guess it’s a big deal. I’ve never used the Doubles endorsement a single time in 30 years. If it is, they’ll tell me!

 

Doubles? Triples!? That sounds like work! Nah you'll be fine. That X endorsement you're good to go. There ain't no doubles at Walmart.
