I've always got it done same day, but I drive to the office and do it in person. I'm sure it could take months if you're mailing back and forth.

When i filed back in 2022 for mine, it took almost 4 months to get everything set up , was all by mail.. now they have everything online. But i just remember thinking i shouldve just stayed leased on while i got all the paperwork figured out because it sucks to just burn cash sitting and waiting for some government tard to file stuff and then it come back wrong multiple times

I thought we couldn't do that because we can't have an authority while driving for a comapany?

Yea,I've hauled a few loads for the saw mill and some loads for the tree cutters also. Heavy ### loads, alot of wear and tear on the truck. Need something durable for those loads. I noticed the loads dont go that far so we always took backwoods around any scales. But that was years ago. I have to get the process, step by step of how to file each one for the truck and company. Kind of a challenge doing this while working all the time but once it's done,it's done. I know the process by then

What would you say is a good safety net for maintence, insurance, fuel, and any other expense for the truck while we build it up to get another?

Im not sure what you mean by that. Go thru and file for your authority and start setting up your irp and ifta account. Get insurance in place because u need to have active authority to even start the process. Irp/ifta is what took me the longest. Insurance for 1st year authority is expensive. Mine was 1800 a month and i sat for 4 months before i could hit the road. Thats basically 8k down the drain, add in all the other expenses you need to pay to set up authority, its just a great way to burn money. One thing ive learned in this business is its best to just add 30%+ on the time and money aspect of any budget for what youre working on and then you will be at a more realistic number.

My authority is filed in arizona. Ive heard other states are easy. If you dont have the title to your truck it is significantly a much more longer process to register irp because not only do u have to have a lease agreement but then the owner of the truck has to sign the paperwork on your irp account for that truck. Which adds more time on to all of it.

The first red flag is going in with a partner. That’s probably a bad idea from the get go. I mean somebody has to own the truck

You are significantly underfunded; you need at least $100k OPERATING CAPITAL with a partnership, but I would advise against forming a partnership.

Seeing you are not going to actually listen to this advice, if you do go into this as a partnership, then you should agree to a few things, starting with one decision maker. Only one person makes all the decisions, and the other one has to go with it.

Second and more important is that one person holding the majority of a stock. So, get a C corp so that way one can buy the other out or sell the entire business without going through dissolving a partnership.

AND third, but more important than anything else ---->>>> GET A LAWYER INVOLVED NOW!

Do not wait until it is too late, start with someone who can properly advise both of you BASED on your personal needs and backgrounds.
