Electric rates are cheap in Florida. My bill is about $180 tops in the summer. That’s A/C for a 3,500 sq ft home, huge pool running a 2hp pump 10 hours a day and everything else.

Summertime I’m always outside because I end up turning blue from the freezing temps inside the house, lol.

Low humidity, 70’s in Florida isn’t any fun because I’m freezing to death.

There’s a lot of nonsense in the article like $14,000+ for homeowners insurance. Mine is $4,000 and a lot cheaper than what I was expected to pay in the north east after they added my home to an extended flood zone map.

North East..monthly winter gas and electric bill $800

    Florida electric everything..winter $150

Glad the crybaby left Florida :)

The biggest shocker for me when I moved here was auto insurance. Went from $600 in Massachusetts to $1,200 in Florida..same coverage.

My only real complaint is how much the population has grown since I moved here. That and all the idiot drivers.

I don’t know much about the Pensacola area but the winter temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler than south Florida.

For a while I lived in a little unincorporated area just West of Pensacola, Beulah, on Highway 90. I've lived different places in Florida and it's a great state. Jacksonville has too much crime, but living there is voluntary. Lots of nice safe places to live in Florida. If I moved back, probably to Melbourne area.

There is some merit there, but mostly alot of drama. I moved from Boston to Florida in 2010 and lived there for 12 years, loved it the first 5-8 years but after Covid man it became too crowded, at least where I was. Too much traffic and too #### hot, once the heat/humidity get's in your head it starts to work on you, if that makes sense. I will say my homeowners insurance jumped to over $1800 a month after Ian hit the West Coast and destroyed Ft. Myers area, and I was on the East Coast (Vero Beach) but the insurance pool is state wide so you get hit hard IF, and this is a big IF, you are on the Coast and in a Flood zone. I was lucky enough to live on the barrier Island 3 houses from the ocean so yeah, you're gonna pay for your insurance there. It was a tough bill to pay every month.

I will say that having lived in Florida during and thru covid, man I am so thankful for DeSantis, politics aside but Florida was a safe haven during all that insanity, and I sure as heck appreciated it. Ultimately I saw the peak of the real estate market was upon us and sold at the top, one of the only times in my life I guessed right lol, and got out. Now we are half-backs, live in Upstate SC on Lake Keowee, kinda the best of both worlds, mountains, lakes, beautiful weather, wonderful small town feel and no snow! Florida isn't for everyone, but if you move there without knowing it's hot AF in July, well thats on you I guess.

Having a swimming pool sure helps living here, not so sure I could handle it without one.
