In 2003 it was 65 for trucks in MT, if I remember correctly. He said, no way you could average 65 mph over mountains with 78 000 lbs.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I'm dry van but ATS loaded me last week for the first time in years without questioning me about inspections. When stuff like that happens to me and I hear of others having a different experience I always figure that I just got lucky enough that time to be dealing with a broker with a little backbone and common sense. so many of them nowadays are the steering wheel holders of the broker game. They aren't willing to think on their feet, take responsibility or look at the big picture. just do what the computer tells them to do. that's what really pisses me off.
Speaking of, did I mention that I hate AI? -
That is such a dumb rule. As if the annual inspection isn't enough to show an active rig, now we have to waste time getting a "random" too? F that! Not all brokers do that. Don't deal with the ones who do.

I have 2 brokers so far approved me manually, but most don't even try ...those 2 have worked with me in the past and that is the reason .. wanted to work bit here and there
..not sure if booking a load far away from home good idea considering my situation, I worked east coast / Midwest most of the time , now trying to stay local or regional

If I take loads out it's always on a direct customer, usually I stick to the same ol same ol, but every once in a while I take loads out that require me to use brokers, I am finding less BS in the open deck world than last year when I did that.

The whole inspection thing is just another way of screening the carrier. I remember one Freight brokrage kept asking me, 'How many inpsections do I have?'. I said, 'none'(at that time) they said, 'sorry'we need a minimum of 2. Ironically, a few weeks later I was pulled into the scale for a level 2 then a couple weeks later another inspection. Got a whole of the same broker and they asked me now how old is my Authority? Lol ot never ends. However, in all fairness they gave me the load and priased me on my professionalism and how I conduct my loads. I'm just wondering when al this mess with illegal carriers, ELP laws etc.. in mid 2026 when capacity lets up and a shortags of carriers occur, will it be just as stringent?
TheLoadOut and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
These things should be affirmed at the authority application level. Before they issue another DOT# and make it active, they should ensure everything is legit, including operational and compliant truck. It is too easy. Let the application cost 10 grand instead of a few hundred. Let's see how many fraudsters can afford that.
TheLoadOut and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Most all of this stuff if you think about it is to phase out the owner operator and small fleet guys. Almost none of these things affect the mega fleets that much. Pretty obvious whose behind it all.
86scotty, TheLoadOut and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
