My 2025 Kenworth W990 had a transmission service light on. Took it to the dealership in Dallas. They diagnosed it and said needs new clutch. 18 speed Automatic transmission. Truck has been there for 2 weeks. Call everyday and at first they don’t know the part number and now it’s we’ve ordered it but don’t have an eta because of back order etc.
What would or could you do if your truck was at the dealership and they can’t give you even an ETA when the part will arrive.

    Siinman Thanks this.

Try and get a rental or take a bit of time off. Not sure what kind of time frame this could be. I’m guessing it gonna be a minute.

That's where warranty work puts an OO out of business.

If there is a reputable independent shop where you could get the work done, often you're way money ahead to do so.

That BS about can't find #'s is popular in dealership service departments.

Frankly, they DGAF what you're losing. They have their good returning customers, and you're usually not priority until they decide.

Stupid question here, doesn’t the dealer offer a backup truck under the warranty that they cover similar to when you purchase a new car ?

I'm seeing the same bull#### on the equipment side too. One of the awesome things about all manufacturers going proprietary (sarcasm). 30 years ago a guy could buy 75% of their parts from a different brand dealer since the only real differences between many trucks were the cab and hood.

I didn’t ask but my assumption is no. I have a mechanical neck RGN with the flip box down. I would need ramps. They are closed when I just called for the holidays. When I called earlier today to get any type of idea, the service guy said to check back next Wednesday.

I’ve read about farmers who can’t work on their own equipment because the only way they can get a diagnostic is thru the John Deere dealership. I’m beginning to feel that the banks (hedge funds) that control these corporations are really just taking from the average person in medieval ways but with modern nuances.
