Cool, sometimes on a forum it's not the same as in person. Yes we do work hard. That's a fact. You will earn your $100k+ trucking wherever it's at no matter how cherry the job. We all joke about not working hard here, and truthfully there are some drivers doing the minimum that still make great money, but trucking is work no matter where you're at. I think the idea that we "have it so easy" is more to do with the fact we don't have to deal with the absolute BS and outright disrespect that's typical in OTR trucking. Sitting around for hours unpaid with nothing to do... Hateful, disrespectful shippers and receivers... That sort of thing... We don't deal with that here. You don't deal with BS like that in LTL either. A whole different world of trucking. Solid pay for the work you do, all of it. The rest of trucking should be that way too but it ain't.sabresfan 76, MACK E-6, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this.

Yeah I by no means was putting WM down. I know I don't have the highest paid or "best" job out there. Whatever works for a guy and his family is all that matters.ElmerFudpucker Thanks this.

I whole heartedly agree that companies decide what the total they'd like to pay, then adjust pay structures to fall within that range.
That said, my last two full years at Schneider I cracked the $100k mark, and was on track for $103 halfway through 2024. I worked just over a 5 day/week average, though it rarely worked out to a strict 5/2 schedule. I usually 'sold back' two weeks of vacation pay, because putting in for less than a week was a pain so I'd just take the extra couple of days at home 'unpaid' until the end of the year. Generally ran about 2,800 miles a week.
Most of the guys I was friendly with were also over $100k, also on a home weekends schedule. So it is very possible to clear $100k at a mega without living in the truck. Under the 'old' pay structure we'd be pushing the $110 mark, but the 'new' pay structure made hustling create diminishing returns - hence why I left.ElmerFudpucker, Lennythedriver and Gomer1969 Thank this. -
Finally got into the club. I work a lot of 5 day weeks to get there but my schedule is still Tuesday-friday home every night. Food service might be one of the hardest jobs in trucking but they pay you like it is.
jmz and ElmerFudpucker Thank this. -
Good to hear something positive about Schneider on here. Usually all you ever see is negative posts. Congratulations big money!Speedy356 and ElmerFudpucker Thank this.
