The bottom part is correct. If thing's are that bad...drive local or just quit for a while period.
Nothing like "free" labor and abuse. -
1099 companies push all of the liabilities onto the driver just like lease purchase..lease purchase is worse but neither are good.. I would avoid both situations if I could.. However..if I took a 1099 job out of necessity it would need to pay say 30 percent more than a company driver.. be sure to check all company's SAFER scores..make sure they are decent.. decent 1099 situations do exist but the pay has to compensate for the lack of benefits and tax liability.. All The Best.

I did 1099 once. Friend of a friend. Went in aware, good guy with 3 trucks. Downfall was he was overextended. One emission system failure and I was unemployed. My 1099 experience sounds rare. Somewhere (can't remember) I read 1099 CPM should be near 90CPM to equate to current W2 CPM. YMMV

Yeah, if you are going to be paid on a 1099, they should be paying you well above normal driver wages.mjd4277, MrsPearl and TurkeyCreekJackJohnson Thank this.

the pay is below average and 1099. it is only options workers who are boxed out of the more ideal options.
im not concerned about the 1099 part because legally theyll have to pay u what ur owed if misclassified. my main concern is schemes they pull beyond 1099. my most recent 1099 not from illinois they payed me 0 money for loads from so cal to washington and washington to so cal. so i didnt get paid and they blocked numbers so i cant contract them. they were amazon contractors booking fraudulent loads so i had to qhit because their method of 2 drivers on paper and 1 on the load or 2 on paper and 1 on load. this was against rules so i had to tell them to stop do that and they said no its normal procedure but amazon told me drivers involved can get banned.
i have good driving record the main thing disqualifying me from more ideal employers is good ones dont hire often or too many employers on my work history.
so now im onto my next 1099 but this one is from illinois and im concerned they wont pay me or other schemes.MrsPearl Thanks this. -

I worked with one for a year. There are little headaches that did occur. You'll get "escrow" deducted the first 10 or so weeks at a rate of 200 bucks weekly. They say youll get it back when you resign, get ready to eat that money. If you have an accident or any type of issues, they get the deductible amount from you. I hit a deer, and they charged it to me 100 bucks or so weekly til it was covered. You will sign a document when you get up there detailing the ways they'll get a bit of money out of you. I knew I was getting ####ed but I went along with it just to get things caught up at home. Plus I needed 1 more year to clean up my record before moving on to greener pastures. I will say this......working for them did get everything at home back on track pretty quickly. You can make some steady money if they can keep you rolling. You'll just be on the hook for insurance and taxes. If you need to get your record cleaned up, then working for one of these places is OK in the short term. If you have a clean record, as in no accidents, tickets, positive drug tests, or certain drug charges, then there are quality reputable companies that we can set you up with. I don't recommend going the 1099 route unless you absolutely have to.mjd4277, MrsPearl, hotrod1653 and 5 others Thank this.

if you’re going to work for 1099 company make sure they pay well and have good reputation. I drive for a decent company and they work out well for me. Pay is .82cpm and I get long miles. 4 weeks on 1 week off, or home on weekends. If I were you, I’d look into companies like Kurtex, Cadande, OCMC. Make sure to do your homework since there’s a good amount of Russian Asians who will screw their own mother over for a dollar.Dove Thanks this.
