It works pretty good if you own the truck and have good customers. Working for somebody, naaah, too much free time, it's expected too.. You see it in the replies here "he got paid for his miles what's he expect?".... only truck drivers think like that. Normal people get paid for time
77fib77, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and Speedy356 Thank this. -
We are far from “normal people”Snyd, 77fib77, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this.

True, we think 14 hour days are normal. All the store associates where I'm at want to drive a truck for the big bucks until they find out about the hours lol. If you're in it for the money you're in it for the wrong reason..
77fib77, GreenPete359, Opus and 1 other person Thank this. -
Really? How about being compensated for all of his time sitting there? I have never and will never understand how people can work like this? There people out there who like that type of work. Only the company will benefit from him sitting there for hours. I have this strange idea that I should be compensated for all on duty and driving time as a company driver. These OTR driver's get paid penny's per mile except that they don't get paid the actual miles that they drive? The list goes on and on and none in favor of the driver.Gearjammin' Penguin, hope not dumb twucker, 77fib77 and 1 other person Thank this.

The beautiful thing is that if an employer or their policies aren’t agreeable for an employee they’re not forced to stay there. As long as people allow it then it will continue. And it’s an employer’s market as long as there’s over capacity in the market.

I've always driven for hub miles, plus good accessorial pays.77fib77, bryan21384 and GreenPete359 Thank this.

And the bad thing is that so many people don't realize that.tscottme, hope not dumb twucker, 77fib77 and 1 other person Thank this.

We are paid by the mile, not for the mile. In essence, piece workers are paid for each unit completed which in our case is a delivery or pickup.77fib77 Thanks this.

Pay has went up for the low rent places around me. Nobody will work there, and if they do they dont stay long. Theres so many job openings its crazy. Everywhere you look help wanted signs. They got used to the illegal labor market and that has changed some. Now everyone thats been here long knows what dumps most are and dont go there.Gearjammin' Penguin and 77fib77 Thank this.
