I think that because so many people hold LTL and Walmart in such high regard, then those that drive for them feel a need to flex, then recruit. I'm glad those working for them are happy, but they should cool it on the flexing or the pooing on other drivers' choices for a job.

So often you see people mention food service. Yes make a lot of money. But not everyone wants to or can deal with that amount of physical laborLonesome and bryan21384 Thank this.

Not pooing, flexing or cruitin. It ain't for everybody is true but outright quitting from it is a lot more rare than other trucking, that's a fact.

Home every day is great but it's not an option for everybody. I don't have a major LTL outfit closer than an hour and half to two hours from the house. I'm not moving and I'm not losing sleep commuting for that. There's also a lot of perks we have that you in LTL don't. The biggest one is our work never slows down. Nobody beats the PTO. There's many more and I wouldn't walk away from this job for an LTL even if there was one close by.

The PTO was pretty good at WM but that's where it stopped. I don't deal with stores, backhauls, sleeping in the truck, etc. I ran groceries for two different chains and I don't miss it. I live 20 miles from a WM DC and I'd much rather commute to LTL. The money, home every day, and absolutely no micromanaging are what I love.

I'll be 3 years here in a few months and the 6 weeks paid vacation is great. I know my job and never get managed. Love pulling reefers, running groceries and weirdly don't even mind sleeping in a truck 4 nights a week. It's all I've ever done for 26 years of trucking.
Gomer1969, Rugerfan and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
I'm not to far in front of you at 28yrs. I actually like running the road and I still do it here and there. When we run otr which we call bagging out we sleep in hotels. I used to run otr back in the day and I did enjoy the lifestyle. I used to take both my boys with me and they both grew up to be drivers.rollin coal Thanks this.

I wonder if OP is still at Barr-Nunn? They seemed to have gone silent.
I do need to contact someone at Barr-Nunn about my pay tomorrow. Because for some reason I'm not getting the short miles pay.
Though I'm unsure how long I'm going to be here. Even if I can't get into flatbedding from that other thread. I'm still probably going to leave48Packard, hope not dumb twucker and Lonesome Thank this.
