Starter went bad on me last night and had to leave the car at work. Honda makes sure it's a very involved job to take off half the motor to get to it.

Went to the Honda dealer because it's important to use OEM parts otherwise it might throw codes for the crank sensor and the aftermarket sometimes fails within a year

When I paid the bill I had to make sure i wasn't buying a Caterpillar starter. Eff me running.

And while my hands look like a cross between @wore out and @OLDSKOOLERnWV hands i saved $600 in labor. I'm not mad though, this one lasted 248k

I did one on a ‘94 Jeep Cherokee with an inline 6 once. Easy job.

Oil changes were another story however thanks be to the sideways filter that I wanted to stuff in some engine designer’s mouth. I’ve never made such a mess just changing oil.

Now, with the cap tool I can do one on my Ram and barely leave a drop on the ground as long as wind is calm.

I opened the hood of the 26 hotrod Ferd company truck, took a quick look and decided that the only work I would be able to do if something goes bad was to pour gas on it, light a match and call the insurance company
