A calculator might work Total paid minus expenses while your going to get paid more to drive the 1100 miles what does it cost to run your truck per mile? You'll earn $1980 for the long haul - expenses, v $810 - expenses for the short haul. What are your total expenses per year add them up divide them by 52 for weekly or 365 for daily and then compare that to what you'll be paid for driving that distance and what you left with cash in hand. Hope you can make a profit.

But you don’t work 52 weeks or 365 days. So your numbers will be show significantly cheaper than your actual operating cost. Plus that only gives you an idea of fixed expenses. Which is important, but variables will need to be figured separately and more often.

I have been trying to run numbers and costs, truck payments and so forth. Will usually run into 48 weeks to calculate just to be safe. Would it be wiser to figure on 40 weeks to allow for slower freight periods?

Yes. Don’t forget you have to account for illness, injuries, mechanical breakdowns, etc…

I’ll be completely honest, you should be able to run that truck for six months and take the other six months off while still being able to survive.

I may get some hate for that comment, but that is why so many are one dpf fault from bankruptcy.

Really, a guy working hard should pull enough in three months.

Everyone wants, but none want to sacrifice...

And nothing wrong with taking it easy if it's possible for you. I don't like fancy stuff, so I don’t have many bills to worry with. I'll hang out till those "more miles for less" turn in to more money.

Maybe not 40, but 44-46. I mean you don’t want to be a slave to it

51 weeks this year, wtf is wrong with me , though I did 39 last year and 42 In 2023 so I had a little to make up.

Id actually rather do more weeks, doing less days a week, then less weeks straight through
