Feel free to correct/chime in...if wrong -- but (in all too many cases, like this one) Schneider (& -- to be fair -- other starter carriers, as well) is hiring new drivers who truly don't know how to read road maps -- or (thus) navigate.

Becuz of this -- they rely solely/too heavily on their GPS solution; without GPS (or Google Maps -- or an equivalent) they are pretty much helpless.

Given Schneider's critically short allotment of time out on a trainer's truck -- drivers are not taught how to think/navigate for themselves...& thus recognize a dangerous GPS "solution".

    :dontknow:

The results? See pics above. :(

Sad thing is i actully have been on that road in a pickup. Many many years ago me and dad went that way because we were heading to devils falls. We had a major 4x4 truck at the time with a winch and still nearly got stuck. Honestly i am more shocked this dude got past the bridge. Unless he was coming from the other direction in which case thank god he DIDNT get to the bridge.

Dad went over one similar in Montana when I was a kid, no sign going in, coming out something like a 10 ton limit, kicked mom and I out, let us walk across the bridge then he opened the door, stabbed it in the low hole and stood on the step going across. He said that was the most worried he had ever been driving as he's listening too all the noise that was making with around 78k on it

Clearly the driver lacks common sense.

In my experience -- Schneider's GPS navigation would NEVER have provided a routing option like that above.

Instead -- the driver in question here very likely used Google Maps, Waze...or similar...probably hoping to save time &/or distance...in lieu of longer truck-rated & legal roads.

The same basic trap (albeit fully paved) involves US 129 in eastern TN -- aka, "The Tail of the Dragon"...or simply "The Dragon":
