For my money, that type of configuration is very good for our needs. Simple, sturdy, versatile. You have made a good choice.
My son just had his Specialized "Work 01" which is an urban type road bike stolen while locked to the bike rack, in a storage room at his apartment in North Hollywood, California. Since it happened there, his renters insurance covered it. I am going to suggest he look at something like this Marin.

I missed that post. Must be nice riding in daylight. Mine are all at night when I'm waiting for the morning unload.
I took mine looking at the Queensboro bridge.
Long FLD and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
I want to bring my nice new gravel bike with me but I don't want it outside in the salt. Anybody ever done this? I'm thinking of installing a fork mount in the overhead and just leaving it hanging with a strap holding the rear wheel to the door frame handle. As is it didn't seem to get in the way too much and I can easily remove the seat.

No truer words were ever spoken.
Your arrangement there seems to be satisfactory. Remove the seat to make it even better. As long as you can get out that door and the bike in not in your visuals for the mirror I don't see a problem. -
Front wheel off - fork in foot area. Drape reat wheel on headreat. Front wheel behind frame on seat. Seatbelt over frame.

Be aware that the ability to exit the passenger side door is a requirement in an emergency, in addition to being a prudent plan.
In the event you happen upon Barney Fife who is looking for a violation.
I know, I know, you see guys with refrigerators, and all kinds of other stuff stacked up there, clearly in sight as you roll through the scale.
Just keep it in mind. -
I took out the passenger seat a few months ago for my folding electric bike which takes up the entire area. Ironically the hanging normal bike will be taking up much less room and allow me to use the passenger door for an exit without moving the bike.
Got some studded tires from 45Nrth and had them set up tubeless. Did my first real winter ride last night and realized I definitely need fenders if I'm going to ride in this crap. Everything was a mess. At the very least I need an ### saver, but cleaning the bike is a pain too.Long FLD and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
I'm out on vacation with family on the Central Coast and finally got a big ride in. 28 miles today which is more than double my longest before now. I'm going to ride my fat ### off.
Long FLD Thanks this. -
I’ve been dealing with some hip issues and other than a couple short rides in July yesterday was the first time on a bike since May. Picked up the e-bike on clearance for $2500 and used my REI dividend for the Burley dog trailer. My plan is to get back into shape using this setup around home and on some rail trails.
Bumpy, jcatel, Tb0n3 and 1 other person Thank this. -
157 miles this vacation. Need to do more of this.Long FLD Thanks this.
