I picked up a load in Kansas City going to Chicago. Im on i72e/us35e in Missouri
I just scaled the load here before fueling and the drives are 38k with the tandems all the way up. Total gross only 75k ( that's why I didn't scale sooner, my bad)...anyway...
Should I try to go back to shipper ( 200 miles) or go to Chicago? And how do I avoid scales houses? The shipper is in Edgerton KS ( close to Kansas city)
I messed up. Over on Drives by 2K gross is 75K

You won’t see a scale until you get to Bolingbrook on I-55. Depending on where you’re going in Chicago, you can probably run around that scale fairly easily.

Stay on I-72 E to spfld il, it’ll dump you onto I-55 North, no scale houses until you get up into Chicago. When you get to I-80, if you need to continue on 55 further north, jump off on I 80 east to I-355 north and take that up to I-55 north again. That’ll put you north of the north bound scalehouse if it’s even open. FYI I-355 is a toll rd.stwik, gentleroger, buzzarddriver and 7 others Thank this.

Is there a scale on i294 north?hope not dumb twucker and austinmike Thank this.

Always try to scale within 20 miles of your pickup if possible...obviously that was possible in this case..lesson learned.. @Speedy356 gave you the correct advice at this point.. Chicago land scales are mostly closed so you go lucky.. All The Best!hope not dumb twucker, austinmike and dboot01 Thank this.

To my knowledge, none of the toll roads in the Chicagoland area have a scalehouse.hope not dumb twucker and dboot01 Thank this.

There’s north and southbound scales at Bolingbrook, and east and westbound scales at Joliet on I-80, but they are farther east on 80 if you want to run up I-355hope not dumb twucker, Trucker61016, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this.

I used Truckers Path a lot to see where the scale houses were and if they were open or closed. Very useful tool.
