Hello all! I am new to this site. I have a CDL and wanted to know if I can team drive for Flatbed. Reefer burnt me out of trucking and want to come back. I have questions for this specific division.
Am I able to team up for this division? I am looking into Swift and TMC. I am from California and have no problems relocating whatsoever. Are there any knowledgeable drivers who can explain from experience with these companies or if they got to do team driving for Flatbed?

What??? Reefer driving burned you out?

Imagine that...I simply can't begin to comprehend why....

I understand Swift's flatbed fleet actually has a good reputation -- & is a great place to learn flatbed.
Your biggest problem there -- is likely to be located reasonably close to a Swift terminal that does/runs flatbed.
I know of NO "starter" flatbed fleets...that run teams.
CAUTION: Team driving will very likely suck. If you drive/learn flatbed with a good flatbed fleet -- you won't need to team.

We have a recent member @aramil248 that wanted to “Come over to the Darkside”, he was refer and rear door slammer, he chicken out after he had all us going. He decided to stay where he’s at.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
A bonus: let's say later on....with Swift....you decide you've had enough of flatbed....&/or flatbed just isn't for you.
Relax! At Swift -- you can switch over to their intermodal fleet....give intermodal a try -- & WITHOUT THE USUAL HASSLES OF CHANGING EMPLOYERS:

Do you want to drive teams?
I ask because you said something like, "Do you have to drive teams?" -

This one is ok, but California isn't in the hiring area.
Move to a no-state income tax state in the hiring area, such as Texas, Florida, Tennessee.

Just be aware that the vast majority of flatbed shippers and receivers are M-F 9-5. If you and your partner want to run day/night one of you is going to end up doing all the securement and tarping.

Team driving and flatbed…
You already have driving experience. Swift and TMC are entry level companies for rookies. You need stupid long runs. If your criminal record is clean, get your passport and go with ATS. They will run you all 48, Canada, the Territories and up to Prudhoe Bay.
Company schmuck it and you will have a pocket full of money. If they talk you into a lease, you’re gonna be on the receiving end of a hot beef injection.
