I got my CDL back in October. As of today, I have doubles/triples, tanker, and hazmat. Since November I have been working in a Class B capacity with a concrete readymix company in New Braunfels, TX. I know that CDL B experience isn't the same as CDL A, especially on paper and to an employer. However, I have applied to so many local positions that don't ask for experience flat out. Beverage delivery, alcohol, food delivery. I really don't want to go OTR or regional. I'm 37 years old and left a 10 year career in law enforcement back in a Chicago. So I've never had anything wrong with my past. Where can I look? I feel like I use filters on job sites and I still get pushed positions that require 2+ years of combination experience. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

As a fuel hauler (class "A" work; 48-ft trailers) -- I can't in good conscience recommend fuel hauling to anyone with less than 2 years of class "A" experience.

"Fuel haulers don't have accidents -- they have disasters" o_O

    That pretty much leaves:
    • Beverage delivery (sodas, beer)
    • Food service (Sysco, McLane, etc)
    • LTL pickup & delivery (ABF Freight, UPS, FedEx, XPO, etc)
Sometimes those will hire without any experience.....& sometimes they won't.

Given the current overall CDL job market's status....all the best of luck.

Wow. I don't know what else to say! Thank you doesn't quite cover it. I'll look into all the the suggestions you all gave. I did apply to Sysco, Tricity Beverages, Abbatt, US Foods, Ben E. Keith, Freshpoint... and many more @lual. I got pass the first phone interview with Sysco then they "went with another candidate." I'll keep applying though. You're a godsend @Chinatown. It was recommended for me to come here because you've helped so many. I am apart of that flock now .
