Don't listen to these people. I don't have any charges like you but I have domestic violence charges and you can't get rid of those. Granted it's a different crime but I've worked with people with similar charges. There's companies out there just apply regardless of what the experience says. You got this regardless of you made a mistake you can turn it around and get a job trucking.
Just got done with school & cant find a job as a felon

If he’s a registered sex offender then any job in any industry will be an obstacle.
Had a friend that lived in a very high end area that unknowingly hired a registered sex offender. His home was tagged as a sex offender living there since his company address was his home.
OP has a tough road ahead of him finding employment but I wouldn’t give up on finding a truck driver job.
I won’t judge the op because there’s highly illegal content on the web as it is. Downloading the content is what gets you in trouble. -
Your not even worth my time, on mute you go and report. How about growing up and being a bit more professional.Numb Thanks this.

Apply at companies that likely won’t check your background. Mega’s and larger carriers will most likely check.
Been some time since you were charged, any chance at getting an attorney that could get it expunged?DanielWV Thanks this. -
Just ignore it. Maybe one of the mods will delete the replyDanielWV Thanks this.

Not that anyone cares about how it happened, but the fact it did happen.
People can think whatever they want, I know the truth and that is all that matters. I never seen what I was downloaded, I used to download so much stuff from Frostwire, movies, games, music.. anything. Just happen that some stuff was illegal videos. I suspected what it could be, and I deleted it. I never seen any of the videos. And had I taken it to trial our forensic guy would attest to that. I have a print out of the files and the creation date and last accessed were identical. ( means never looked at) because if you look at something the time would be different.
Police even gave me back my computer.
I am in the process of finding a lawyer who does Habeus Corpus, or something to fight the conviction. But like I said, in todays age, no one cares, people will believe whatever they want to believe.
I believe in moving forward in life, no backwards. I believe people who have jobs and are plugged into society make people more stable and safe, opposed to people who cant get jobs and have no clue where their next meal is coming from, and how to survive. I believe in having open minds and talking, and less hate.
Well see how it all turns out. Thanks for the encouragement. -
Who does the councilor suggest is hiring these newbies with a record? Counselors pay no penalty for giving outdated advice. They are on salary. The less time they spend with each client the easier they can get through their day. Having your endorsements, especially TWIC/HazMat is great.
Nobody is discussing IF people with a record should be helped and if that helps society. It does.
Reality is what exists whether we like it or not. -
I have a friend who had a bad drug problem that sent him in and out of prison. He chose to turn his life around and used trucking to do it. I met him when he worked at Butler Transport out of Kansas City. He used that opportunity to change his life and that he did.. Now he's an owner operator.
Check them out.mastership and tscottme Thank this. -
I can understand your opinion. But I'm one who successfully not only found a trucking job with felony, but just a month out of prison while on home confinement at beginning of probation. I outworked and out performed the other drivers and 5 years later (still on probation for few more months)..... And I am the lead driver, driving my 2nd new truck making 6 figures.
The road is tough, but it is possible!!!!! It won't be if you're not willing to take tons of time to network and apply everywhere, complain and once someone gives you a chance you don't outperform their expectations. I've already messaged OP with advice.... But just wanted to let rest of forum readers know it's very possible just more difficult than a non-felon, especially a very stigmatized felony, to do. But it's possible. -
You mentioned getting recommended it through a VA counselor. Have you consulted them? They may have some leads, though knowing VA it might take a few months to hear back. Local construction, dumps, or equipment moving might be an entry point. Try watching for daycab trucks in the area and look up their names. Maybe look at quarry pits or paving outfits nearby. It won't be an easy start, but they're a lot less picky and you might find a good career there anyhow.
tscottme, DanielWV and mastership Thank this.
