    Guys

    1. What oil do you recommend to use on Vacuum pump? I have Challenger 607 pumps.

    2. How often do you have to add oil? I understand it depends on how many hours you work them also

    3. What brand you recommend for my steering tires? something good for this rough ### oilfield roads that doesn't cost arm and leg!

    THANK YOU!

Liberty only uses Cooper Work Series (all position) in Louisiana from what the tire shop in Shreveport told me.I bought 8 for my trailer, will try them on the steers when I change those.

Thank you. I was asking about the steering tires for the truck itself.

    When i did oilfield.

    1. Its been almost a decade since i did oil but iirc we always ram cat SAE30, hell i run cat SAE30 in my PTO. Mostly because there are cats bloody everywhere so its easy to get more if something goes sideways.

    2. Mine never needed more. Though the company also pulled samples every 500 hours and changed as needed.

    3. Michlin. Im a rock bucket so i see even worse roads then oilfield roads, scrap metal and worse. The only thing that held up well in the oilfield were michlins and occasionally bridgestones and they also are the only ones that hold up on MY truck. Steers are the one tire thats hard to cheap out on and expect to last worth a ####. And if something goes wrong well.....fenders and hoods are pretty expensive.

Bridgestone (R268, if memory serves) is what my old employer ran on the steer axle. And when I ran a vac truck we always topped off the pump oil reservoir after each shift, that way the next driver wouldn't run out. I think we refilled the flush fluid reservoir about once a week.

For the pump, I run straight 30W in my 607 and just top off every couple of weeks depending on hours. Steering tires? Firestone’s been solid for me on rough roads without breaking the bank.
