So,,,this looks like a 20 footer with a giant bladder inside holding an enormous amount of what looks like drain oil, I can only imagine what this thing must have weighed. No placards? Oh boy, an environmental disaster and no placards, I'd say the driver is on their way to Mexico. I read, 1 quart of oil pollutes a million gallons of water. Was the "Pepes" driver having some trouble with English?

most oils and lubes aren’t hazardous, and do not require placards

I beg to differ,o_O even an old, out of touch fart like me knows drain oil is indeed considered hazardous waste, and has to be treated as such and placarded. Filters too have to be crushed and sealed in a 55 gal drum and marked hazardous.

That’s just it. If it’s not hazardous, then it can’t be 5 gallons of a hazmat spill

Speedy356 and Tall Mike Thank this.

It has a hazardous waste exemption and can be transported, and stored as non hazardous most times.

The thing is that even though it may not be hazardous hazmat teams will treat like it’s hazardous regardless.
Even though the oil is non-hazardous,it’s still a petroleum based product.

The wrecker driver is right-the trucking company is COOKED!
The oil got down into the storm sewer system, that is as bad as it gets!!!
It’s possible that the oil wasn’t properly placarded on the trailer, which can get the company into even more trouble!

Motor oil is not hazmat so no placards are needed. We transported tankers of it and never needed a placard
