New Kwik Trip on the drawing board for Alexandria, MN.

Good news. That Pilot at exit 100 is kind of "meh". I stopped in at their location in Clearwater, which I believe is currently the last real full-service travel plaza Kwik Trip heading west on 94. The gal behind the counter said it was scheduled to open in August 2026 and she may have also implied there was another one popping up further towards Fargo but didn't say where. Not a lot of good stops between St Cloud and Fargo, so that will help. Trucker's Inn in Sauk Center is garbage now. Big Chief in Fergus Falls, also kind of "meh". I don't even much care for the Petro in Clearwater anymore. (Parking lot is horrible and the restaurant is an overpriced rip off.) I go to the Kwik Trip now.

 

I’ll have to try that place next time I’m out that way. I’ve noticed it driving by and wondered if it was any good. That could be the other go-to spot along that corridor I just didn’t know about. I don’t buy any bio-blend fuel in MN ever but do shut down for the night up that way pretty regularly.

 

A Kwik Trip in Alexandria at that same exit as the Pilot would effectively render that place obsolete. Just like the one in South Beloit did to the J and Road Ranger at that exit, but I’m a KT fan.

 

Yep, and the one in Clearwater...I don't even mess with that Petro or Olson's/Hasty now that it's there. Like those clean, pothole-free concrete parking lots.
