Gen Z is getting dumber? Neuroscientist sounds global alarm

It really is alarming. I'm stupefied by it daily.

 

I said it before and I said it again. You don’t need studies to look at this matter. Just look at the movie “Idiocracy”!

 

was seeing this maybe 20 yrs ago.

had an argument with my youngest as a 20 something know-it-all and he told me "I don't have know these things, all I need is on my phone".

and that was how him and his peers viewed paying attention to stuff.

sad.

 

What happens when you can't whip out your phone and look it up? You have to figure it out for yourself. That's where those critical thinking skills come in.

Some of these kids don’t have an inkling of a clue.

Not even remotely!!!
You tell them to improvise or think out of the box and some of them will give you this look like: “HUH?!?!”

 

Yes I'm wondering in the near future where it will get to the point that we'll actually forget how to speak and need a computer to do all the talking for us. Noticed how people will meet at a cafe and just sit on their phones, or walking down the street so engaged in their mobile phone use they can barely watch where their walking.

 

Generation Z will be fine. The world ain't gonna fall apart when they take over. This is just another worthless article pitting one generation against all the others.

 

I blame the COVID fear mongering that went on during the lockdowns.. They're also the first generation to grow up with Internet and cell phones which I don't think are good for development. Technology can be a crutch to growth.
