They're hiring out of Seymour right now for 25 positions and offering a $10,000 bonus to sign on there. If you're qualified. So what are you waiting for? That won't stay posted forever.

The schedule you get right out the gate is whatever they need filled. They may offer a few options there. Rebids have been happening every 6 months lately though so it won't be forever. I don't know if Seymour has night shift they're GM. Probably do but I dunno. It's a question for a driver there or recruiter. Getting a night spot shouldn't be difficult without seniority. Gas City definitely has night shift spots. Gas City is a money printing machine of a job with plenty of miles and lots of activities.

Theyre hiring out of Gas City right now too. 7 open positions but no sign on bonus there.

I would like a 5-2 schedule because that allows me to get the most hours and to extend on a sixth day when they have their 175-275 bonus for working extra.
I have all of the requirements to work for Walmart. I don't rush. I try to drive safe, be efficient, be consistent, and maximize my hours whenever possible. In 2025, I made 120k hauling fuel home daily around Indianapolis.
When you say printing money out of Gas City, what is the max a motivated strategic hard-working driver (5-2 weekend night and extend whenever possible) could get?
When it comes to vacation where I'm at now we only get one week at a time for a total of 2 weeks. It seems like at Walmart. I could probably take a month off at a time and go visit family overseas. That would be a big benefit for me.

I can't tell you exactly what you'll make. You should make what you're making now without breaking a sweat. The potential to make a lot more than that is there. You'll be sleeping in the truck 4 nights a week to do it. A buddy of mine who was a poster on this forum for several years ago when he was an o/o started out in Gas City then transferred to Brundidge. Gas City has good runs with more miles than what comes out of my DC, or even Brundidge I would imagine. Extension bonus pays out for about 7 months of the year starting sometime in May lasting until early January. Plenty of extra earning opportunity there for the taking.

Nobody has better PTO than Walmart. I'll be here 3 years in July and already earning 6 weeks off (30 days) for this year. To start off you'll get 21 days. If you drive safe every quarter you'll get 1 more per quarter so possibly 25 days in year 1. Year 2 you get 23+4 then year 3 you get 26+4. Then the next PTO bump is at the 5 year mark.

This is a crucial question for me. I saw on Reddit (take with a grain of salt) that a certified driver trainer (CDT) at Walmart earned 175k in a year.
I was a teacher for a long time before I was a truck driver, so I would enjoy training.
Does anybody know how CDTs at Walmart get paid? Does anyone know how many CDT positions are available in Walmart? Does anybody know what the qualifications are to become a CDT?
Right now, I'm interested in Walmart, but if the answers to these questions are doable. I'm 100% in

$175K!! I'm calling BS on that one driver. It's not like the mega carriers where a trainer racking up double miles "makes bank" running team with newbie. CDT's get paid well to ride for 10 hours a day. No need to push and run like a team. You have sign up to become one. I believe it is at the GTM's (general transportation manager) discretion who they choose to be a CDT. I think you have to be with the company 3 years minimum. They get paid whatever their ADP is (average daily pay) to ride shotgun with a newly hired driver for 2 weeks. They have to be on the clock for 10 hours minimum per day doing that then it's time to find a Hampton Inn or whatever hotel of choice and take a break.

The only "training" experienced newly hired drivers receive is on the tablet and other company procedures. They're not there to teach experienced drivers how to drive however they will be evaluating and judging the driving. If bad habits are noted and refuse to go away they won't sign off on the new driver.

I have to agree with Rollin coal that the PTO is excellent and if I remember correctly if you took a work day off they would still put 10 hours in your PTO bucket for that day.

They may have done that back in the old days but no they don't do that anymore. The way we login on our tablet and select "start your day" at the beginning of the day and then after you log into sleeper or off duty on logs you will select "end your day" is what PTO accrual is based off of. So I always maximize that to 14 hours every working day (except go home day!) so usually by early November I've already maxed out earning my PTO. So our year starts Feb 1 and ends Jan 31 the following year I've maxed out PTO accrual in about a 9 month time frame. I'm normally done with my day in 11 hours but always end it at the 14 mark which is normally my alarm waking me up to "end my day" then back to sleep.

Thanks for clearing that up. A lot has changed since I retired in 2018.

Two technical questions. Out of curiosity. How do you get paid for a double drop and hook? Paid for two drop and hooks? Paid for one drop and hook and hourly pay for the second? Paid for one drop and hook and f the driver on the second drop and hook?
How long does it take to wash the truck at the end of the week? And what kind of equipment is available for performing that wash?
