FFE Transportation does hire in Florida. They have terminals in Winterhaven and Miami, and they are
actively seeking drivers in the state. Additionally, they have a location in Dundee, Florida, where they offer
various transportation and warehousing services.

May Trucking will offer you a nearby terminal...in Pensacola.
Note also that their nickname is "No-Pay May".

FYI: Swift Transportation has a terminal over next to Mobile....in Irvington, AL:
Swift Transportation Mobile, AL Terminal
That terminal offers the following freight types:
- dedicated
- dry van
- reefer
Employment with a carrier that has a nearby terminal will also offer you some significant advantages (like fenced-in, secure parking for both your assigned tractor & also your personal vehicle).
BTW: Do you have (or do you know of) any available parking space nearby to your residence -- to safely & legally leave a truck & trailer combo for your home time?

I haven't seen this asked, why are you interested in starting at age 56? What do you do now? What is your family situation? Does sleeping away from home bother you?
Many people start driving not realizing that it's a lifestyle, not just a job. -
Bean Jr (above) is right.
I also started commercial driving at age 56.
It's not just a job -- it's also a totally different lifestyle....with lots & lots of hours involved.
Unless you have an incredible work ethic -- think twice.
-- LBean Jr. Thanks this.
