If you're looking for good training, you cannot beat TMC. Watch out for some of the "local" CDL schools. You can easily lose more money than benefit you would gain. If you want to go to a CDL school, outside of a company, look for a community college. They are usually accredited and can work with you on a payment plan, if necessary. After graduation, when you're looking at companies that hire new CDL holders, ask about tuition reimbursement. I know TMC does, and I think Maverick also has that to offer. I'm not familiar with what Millis offers.

I hate cold weather. Pretty harsh winters in Pennsylvania, but many people enjoy that. To each his own.

Do TMC and Maverick do California/West Coast runs? He wants California runs.

Income Tax and sales tax in Pennsylvania, plus lots of terrible roads and bad weather.Chinatown Thanks this.

Probably because of all the roaches, as in the insect. Don't know if it is the climate or the living conditions people create, but they are everywhere in great number.

A good thing about the South is you can easily access a city without living in it. Once you get 30 minutes outside of places like Birmingham, AL and Jackson, MS, safety stops being a concern. You get the low cost of rural living and the job market of a city. Obviously, I'm not including major metros like Atlanta and Dallas in that.Chinatown Thanks this.

Be careful to where you consider in the FL "panhandle".
Commuter traffic to/from military installations (& on US hwy 98) is now pretty bad. In short -- it's getting crowded; real estate in many places there is no longer cheap.

Also -- your back yard in that area will at some point become a dance floor for hurricanes &/or other tropical weather systems; check (& then double-check) property insurances rates before you buy ANY-thing.
