Hindsy, I went through the Roehl school a couple of yrs ago. I can tell you that it is fast paced and they have some of the best instructors I have ever met. Soak in all you can and keep a positive attitude. Attitude is everything. Most of thier trainers are top notch also. All in all, its a piece of cake. I would still be driving for them butr i found a short term local job that pays great. If contract doesnt get renewed I would go back to them in a heartbeat. Good luck and congrats

Only bad, but really a good, thing is that the training has changed for the flatbeds. Now instead of going right out to be with a flatbed trainer you are sent out with vans and will go clear thru evo 3 running van. I think they said 30-90 days of vans then they will bring you back, get you into load securement training and send you out with a fb trainer for 10 days or so. Then its into a truck solo on the FB tip.
Just in time for winter! :biggrin_2555: Should be fun! :biggrin_2559:

    Millis....:biggrin_25521: :biggrin_2556:

Dude, you did the right thing. Don't look back. Your situation with Mike is all too familar...I don't understand sometimes...but.... Seeing they are getting around 250 applications/day, they can simply shrug off someone that has any 'issue' and move on to the next applicant.

(No offense...it's just the way they are..)

Look at SAFERSYS ....for clues. Millis is under even more scrutiny after their driver caused that homicide in NY state.
Roehl has an awesome safety rating and does NOT ask you to run illegal. Millis? - Many drivers carried 2 books and I believe Millis simply looked the other way. Now with E-Logs, things might change with them. Already drivers around here are stating their miles dropped and that they can no longer run like they used to.

    :biggrin_25513:

Best advice? - Don't quit before 1yr. Stick it out. If you leave before 1yr w/o going to some other company..your driving career will come to a halt really quick.

Don't worry about Canada - Roehl does go in there, but not for the majority of freight...

Good info H! Yeah Mike really did act as though it was not a big deal. Which ultimately it isn't to me either. I mean I got an offer from a good company as far as training goes. Its no SWIFT, but it will do... (lol):biggrin_25525: Now that Millis has e-logs coming it will be safe or it will be done. So good luck to them and people that go there have to start somewhere.

My 1st year... well I know that there will be a bit of salt taken here and there. Meaning I'm not sweatin the small stuff. I'm not turning down loads and my wife knows that I will get home when I can. The only day I'm really gonna sweat them on would be Christmas. My little ones need me there on Christmas. I really don't think it will be that big of a problem, but thats the only one I'm standing on.
Other than that I will be mister "yes sir/mam I'll do my best to get it done."
I think I'm heading in the right direction and cannot wait to get it going!

Roehl works hard to get people home for xmas.
And, they want ALL drivers off the road by 7pm on New Years Eve. Of course that doesn't mean you WILL be home...they just want you off the road.

People can say what they will about Roehl - but I still believe they put safety first in their operation. It's one reason their drivers get more green lights as they approach the scales.

Also, they have several options for 'hometime' fleets if your close enough to a drop yard or terminal.

Last year, I almost signed on with them....

PS. if you have issues out there...SEEK ASSISTANCE from friends or people on here. My last friend (ironically went to Millis) and got into serious issues and never reached out for guidence from friends or in here. He drove the tractor back to Richfield and left it. His DAC is ruined along with his career and he owes Mr Mike around 4 grand now... I asked him why he didnt seek out help? - He was too embarassed.
Never be afraid to ask questions...Never! - and if your having issues backing up (like at a truck stop or something) and they start hassling u on the CB - shut it off. They were all there ONE time in their career.
