    Howdy guys.

New to me 2000 Freightliner classic xl has the same axles as my previous classic some kinda meritor set up. This front axle always pushes oil out of the vent. My last truck did it and this one does too. Anyone have experience with this and a fix? They aren't over full and the axles on this truck are basically brand new. So what gives? It annoys me and anyone that know my previous posts I had oil leaks of any kind. Thanks!

My 2014 Pete does the same, someone told me to put a folded shop towel(paper) inside the hubcaps, it will absorb it. But you must have hubcaps. Mine are not overfilled neither.

Oh I mean the vent that is up on the top side of the axle, it's supposed to just keep any pressure out of the axle but oil keeps coming out of it. I am guessing you mean the little pressure vent on the center of the hub ends?

Yup, thought you meant the front axle rubber pin holes. I wouldn’t know about those rear breathers. Never had an issue on any truck I’ve driven through out decades.

Did you remove the vent and clean it? Also blow through it with compressed air or your mouth. In an off-road application such as dump truck we would pull and clean them all the time. Good preventative maintenance. Pic(s) would be helpful.

I find some of these just do it. They'll always push some out. I replace them with a barbed fitting, 12-18" of hose, and place the vent up on the crossmember or other convenient area.

It also stays cleaner higher up.

Well I have an answer for this axle.....the power divider is broken. So I guess I don't need to worry about the vent. I need to either pay someone to fix it or do it myself. I hate buying different trucks that are unknown lol. One day truck is driving great and everything seems fine. The next your power divider falls apart.

Seriously, for what I paid to rebuild my power divider last year, just buy the whole unit and R&R.

You'll be done in a few hours, not wait on parts, and probably only spend $1500 more.

I was balls deep and 2k$ into mine before I was calling myself a dumbazs. Probably ended up at 3k$ just to rebuild the PD.

I just dropped it at the nearest shop. I don't have time to mess with it this weekend and maybe I can get it back before Monday so I can get it back to work. Plus if it locked up the differential on the way home a tow is $2k. I'm sure it won't be cheap but that's trucking I guess. I sure miss my old truck.
