Thanks for the feedback everyone. The kid ended up getting the permit electronically but got in and out of the Sunshine state without getting stopped. Got the green light bypass but north and south. Turns out the trailer is a slider but whoever had the trailer previously has butchered the plumbing so that you can’t slide the rear axle forward. Florida scales are set up with the technology it tells the scale master where the violation is .
pretty hard to beat the camera system. I have found.
Went in and out with a 48 step never had a problem until I bought the 53 flat.
Got my education first time going in with it.
FEMA load got me a free class and a pass.

From my interpretation of the statute I would say no, just make sure the center of your rearmost axle is no more than 41’ from the kingpin.

Here's my math: I measured last night from rear of my trailer to center of rear axle, 12Ft 4in. If I Minus that off of an overall length of 53, I came up with 40ft 6in...that's from the tip of my trailer to the end. I have a 30 inch kingpin mount, thats another 2 ft 6 inches.
So wouldn't that leave my kingpin to center of rear axle 38.0 ft?
