Hell back when I was reefer Wal-Mart/Sam's DCs were my favorite. Except during Covid I've never been at any of them longer than 3 hours. They always knew when I was closing in on my 2 hours to begin charging delay, and would be out of there just before that time limit. They're also all, to my knowledge, up to 1 hour before or 1 after appointment time for your allowed gate times.

At Walmart you can deliver an hour before and up to an hour after. I do LTL and usually do it myself, and I am in and out in an hour.

Otherwise it usually takes them 2 or 3, even sometimes 4 hours.

Walmart is one of the better grocery receivers. ! hour before or after. If you are having problems with appointment times, whoever you are dealing with is greasing you up and crying piggy.

Drove for Crete out of North Platte DC. I could tell stories. Sams Club and Costco definitely hire more intelligent life forms in general. I always liked to deliver to the small WallyWorld's in the country. Always had a person who knew what they were doing. Always took care of me asap. The biggest ones were the worst. They're idiots!
In general. Didn't ever have a problem with their logistics.
Did a delivery at 10pm. Docked. Then called inside. Girl said this guy would be to the door asap. I walked around. Waited at the door. This is in the middle of a snow storm. I got tired of waiting in the snow storm. Went back to the truck. Called in again. Girl fed me BS about guy being there asap. I told her I ain't gonna wait out in that snow storm no more. I'm in the truck. When he's ready. Ether come to the truck, or call me. I fell asleep in the truck. I get woken up at about 4;30am. Another driver yelling at me that I can't park there. Told him I'm waiting to be unloaded since 10 last night. He called inside. They finally got me inside. I could tell the guy from last night was in trouble.
Another extra cute one. Docked about 4pm. Called in. Girl said ok. Went to walk through door. Nothing. Went back to truck. Called in again. This time same Girl asked who am I delivering from? I said WallyWorld. She asked where I came from? I said North Platte. (wrong answer) I could practically hear her rectum tightening. She got all flipped out. Said she thought I was from UPS or somebody and they don't accept deliveries from them after 4. She had to unload me. No choice. Don't matter the time.
Another cute one. Delivered groceries to a WallyWorld. Got done and couldn't go anywhere due to clock. It was evening. I told the guy I delivered these salads. I want to make sure I can get some for dinner. He started talking that he couldn't let me steal it from the back and... I got pissed. Told him I make as much as four of them put together. I just wanted him to make sure it gets out on the shelf. So I can buy it cause I'm stuck here tonight.

Now see, drivers can learn from this right here. You stayed ready. Thats how you make every minute mean something. I've done the same thing.many times over, and still most times could make delivery on time.

You should have seen them twenty years ago. Then they really were f'd. There'd be fifteen guys trying to check in at the window. Minimum six hours.

I think the carriers were actually banding together and telling them something's got to change.

Now they're typically one hour before, less then two to get unloaded.
