i cringe each time i hear about somebody marrying another person while serving. it's more likely the non-military spouse is nothing but a tag chaser. i wouldn't be surprised if the wife fits that label. from the sound of it, she is also an idiot. i'd drop her like a bad habit. for the most part, she's the one who caused the mess.

When I was in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm 90-91. I know of 2 soldiers that was done in by their wives. One racked up bills and bought all kinds of stuff, furniture, etc... then ended up pawning everything. She had his full power of attorney and cleaned him out and then sent him a dear john letter.

The other made a tape and sent to him. It started out her telling him how much she loved him and missed him then it showed her getting it on with another guy. Triple X material. It messed him up. He ended up getting sent home and I don't know what happened to him.

Maybe setup on auto bill pay through the bank,

I have some accounts set up that way.

I get notice of the bill amount and then a notice when it comes out of my account in the bank

Wow, thats just wow, me and HOA wouldn't mix, just now I have 2, non-running cars in my pack parking place doo dad, a bunch of small engines up and down the side of my house and some non, soon to be running lawn mowers. Plus a couple of homemade R3DN3K inventions. Anyway, enough of my Redneckness. I'd be pretty pissed to come home and find my house being lived in by someone else.

I seen a lot of this as well. Guys returning and getting served papers as they were stepping off the bus.
:biggrin_2556: I could go on and tell many many stories. (lol)

No offense intended, but im glad we are not neighbors.
While im not crazy about HOA's,I think everyone who owns a home in a neighborhood has a responsibily to keep their house and lawn looking nice, not like a junk yard.
Its not your fault HOA's exists, but your the reason.

An unfortunate circumstance from someone who signed a contract with a HOA that didn't read it. A tough life lesson for sure.

Why do people NOT read contracts thoroughly? Is that 15 minutes really too important for them?

Because contracts have become as confusing as doing your own taxes or filling out a dredit card app, full of double talk and loopholes.
Its not just 15 mins to read most contracts anymore, its thousands of dollars to have a lawyer read it,to protect your interest from other lawyers.
Even then,a lawyer can always find loopholes in a contract.
