Are you referring to a prehire? If so, no, you're not actually hired until after orientation. Seems I heard of a company doing that on here, but can't put my finger on the thread. If that was true, it should be one of the easier things to get removed.![]()

Johnday is correct. If for some reason you fail the pre test and you are sent home it does not show up on your DAC.

Thanks. The reason I asked, is that I have 2 back-to-back drug & physical testings with 2 companies that I had applied to. Both of these companies have made me a firm offer, subject, ofcourse, to the drug & physicals. Out of these 2, I prefer one over the other, but can't decide if I should get tested twice ( to ensure that I get hired by atleast one of the companies ), or forego one in favour of the other. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks, once again.

If I may ask, what is a pre test ? Thanks
-
Ya'll may want to double check.
Showing up for orientation, and not finishing, for whatever reason.....
CAN be reported to DAC-Hireright-or whatever........ -
I had a problem with my knee the first time then after 6 months I tried again. This time my heart rate was too high so twice I failed their test. Both times did not show up on my DAC.

Gypsy is referring to a small physical fitness test that many companies are conducting to check heart rate and ability to do the job. It does not consist of anything overly exerting unless you are tremendously out of shape or have some physical problem with a knee, hip, back, etc. Your heart rate will need to stay below a certain rate (220 - your age x .90 = target heart rate) Your heart rate can not exceed the target heart rate during any exercise or you are out. The whole test lasts maybe 30 minutes and consists of eight to ten exercises or functions representing aspects of driving a truck.Graymist Thanks this.

Schneider like many companies now put you through a series of exercises and monitor your heart rate through out. It consists of stepping up and down a 12" step for 1 minute, lifting 30 and 60#'s pulling 100#, pushing 80# squatting 10 times, crawling under a trailer and stepping up the ICC bar and kneeling into a trailer (table). go to their website and then to safety and training and you can download the video that shows what they expect.Graymist Thanks this.

Before hiring on with SNI almost three years ago, I looked at the physical test described above. Now, being 5'6" and 260 pounds, I'm a bit out of shape, though round IS a shape. So what did I do?
I practiced. Got a milk crate, filled it with books, and marched up and down the largest room in the house. I took my BP and monitored my heart rate. Part of my problem was anxiety, as I had failed a test some years before while going through a divorce. But another part of it was simply not controlling my breathing. I really concentrated on that, and ended up getting through it fine. -
I would take the time to do both tests for both companies. I had a test with one company and less than three weeks later did a test for Schneider at the very same clinic. It never hurts to keep one company strung along until you are absolutely sure of where you are going - meaning the recruiter has told you that you are completely clear to go to orientation and hopefully the welcome letter with hotel and logistics info.
