Are you experienced? I was told the starting pay was .26 w/per diem for recent grads. If that is correct. I am doing the Snoopy dance.:biggrin_25514:

If you are experienced, you need to change your status. But thanks for the info.

Oh, maybe you are going tanker. That may make a difference. I re-read your posting.

I'd do the math on their per diem pay.

You might be better off in the long run by doing it yourself on your annual tax return.

I will be pulling a tanker. I have no experience. Well very little. I hauled milk for about 2 months a couple of years ago. I was going to help a guy from church so he was helping me get my CDL. never panned out because we had some sickness and death in the family. God had other plans for me at that time. Now I believe the time is right to get going on what I've always wanted to do. have a great night and be safe out there.

I had thought that. I heard that they offer .28 premium at the end of the week. I have completed my own taxes all my life. I do itemize and don't have a problem itemizing, but any time I can get tax free money, ie. IRA, 401K, Health savings account...so I still was not sure which way to go. I hate giving the government an interest free loan, but I hate even more writing them a check. I will probably take the premium if it is offered and keep adjusting my W-4 as necessary.

The first 90 days per diem is mandatory after that you can opt out. If you have lots of deductions they say it benefits you if you don't not so much. Also it depends they say on where you live. If you know an accountant it's a good idea to check with them about your situation if per diem is right for you.

My next door neighbor is an accountant. I was a finance major. He told me to take the premium pay, but like I said, any time I can get money before the government gets its hands on it, I think it is better. I will crunch the numbers to find out which is more beneficial. I will also be trading stock while I am taking my 10 hours.

Why does where you live have a bearing on per diem?:biggrin_255:
