Hello All!
I am a young and inspiring student that is extremely interested in the trucking business. I cant say that I own my own truck but one day I ultimately would love too. I am going to school right now and lets just say it isnt my thing. I have had to do numerous projects and they have all lead me back to writing 15 page papers on truckers, their lifestyles, and their rigs. Currently, I am working on a final term paper in which I would like to know more information the real incites of the life of a tucker and what a typical day would consist of. The more stores the better, I know this isnt the typical post to start as a new guy but I really want this information first rather than the boring stats. Thanks to all!

Hello All,
Ok so I am getting into the research portion of my final paper and I need to come up with a new product that I can develop to hit the market for truckers. I am completely open for any ideas and they will be very much appreciated. I have a link below for a quick 6 question survey that will help get my research rolling before I have to come up with the specific product. If you could please the survey it will help greatly, it should only take a minute.
Thanks!

So you don't know what you're developing?
Why would I give you an idea on what to make when I could do the same thing?
That survey is pretty generic, I don't know how you're going to get any kind of good demographics out of it....

Anything that is cheap and easy to watch tv, internet, and so on. Also saves fuel. I watched a show on mythbusters and they did an experiment by putting dimples all around the car like a golf ball. And it got better gas milage because it cut down the wind resistance. With 15 pages you can do research and write about the physics of a golf ball. It might be a good introduction to your paper and how the industry is looking for new ways to fight the cost of fuel for the longest drive. LOL. When I saw that show I thought the trucking industry might develope trucks and trailors like that someday or maybe something after market. Anything after market would have to worry about added weight and price to make it cost affective for the trucker. But hey, the teacher might not know that! Good luck!
That seemed like a weak survey. No answer for the former trucker. I put less than 5 years. -
59Panhead,
I am not sure you understand what I am doing in the aspect of the paper. I am just supposed to develop a product in the means of a name and a function. I am not actually putting building or selling something, it is simply coming up with something that the trucker community would like to potentially see on the market. It doesnt necessarily have to be reasonable in the aspect of coming up with all of the logistics, just simply an idea. As for the survey, I have to come up with 3 total surveys to add within the paper. The first survey is to see the market that I am going to base my product around so it is very generic. The second survey is trying to find out the best possible way to market, (online, TV, Ad) and why I have chosen the market that I did. The last survey is product related that once I have my product I need to make a survey to see what they would like of the potential product.

I understand perfectly what you're trying to do. Just seems to me as if you're trying to take the easy way out and see if you can garnish some ideas off a few message boards and go from there.
I speak from experience on the product development and marketing, I've developed a few specialty tools for a niche market.
