Swift's breakdown sounds like werner's..but maybe not quite as bad..from what you say.

Werner issued me a little tool kit with a couple of screwdrivers, including the two torx drivers that fit darn near every screw on the truck, a hammer, air gauge, radiator cap wrench (took me forever to figure out what it was), and a crescent wrench..not really enough to do much at all, but ive picked up a tool set and a set of wrenches from truckstops..so i can change mudflaps and things..

i found my spare mudflaps in parking lots, and i can get pretty much any part i want from the parts window at our shops....but...as if i'm going to think i need a spare trailer abs light bulb? Anyway, dispatch will authorize a reimbursement on pretty much anything i claim to need. Got them to reimburse me on a can of wd40 LOL. I wouldn't ever abuse that ability, its too nice to be able to get reimbursements on things i need no questions asked..

I remember a while back i was at a terminal, saw another driver with a missing mudflap, and pointed it out to him...he says "thats why im puttin it in the shop". That makes sense! Wait 3 days at a terminal to get a 10 minute repair done...

As far as breakdown/maintenance, usually takes about 4 hours to get a response from breakdown on the qualcomm....i often head to a major truckstop and send a request to get it fixed at that truckstop before i get there, just like you...but i usually speed up the wait by calling in after sending the message, and waiting on hold for an hour or two...

A lot of ma n pa shops won't work with us because supposedly werner takes about a month to pay up on PO numbers. CRST sucked bad when i worked for them, but atleast we could get the truck fixed literally anywhere...found out i broke an air chamber in a parking lot across the street from a shop, told em i was going there, they said ok...gave them a comcheck express code...

werner's breakdown dept has in the past given me the run around. Screwed up priorities. Would rather spend hundreds to put me in hotels instead of letting a dealer fix an apu after hours.

You go to a terminal shop, they'll make you wait 3 days, then look at it and tell you to go to a dealer...

    Travelinman Thanks this.

You don't need to put one on if you own the truck. But you can't average more than 63 mph. Just like if you pull Walmart's trailers.

Because some O/O need to be forced to make money...If yo run faster then 62 mph as an L/O or O/O then you don't know how to run a business. Simple as that!

i ran with an o/o who was making money running the speed limit..no matter what it was...up to 75 in west texas...got ok gas milage.

i guess you dont realize theres more to mpg than speed. There's this little thing called gearing...

and besides that, i guess you've never driven in the mountains. if you crank it up 5 over before going up a hill...you slow down less and downshift less going up it..therefore save fuel...

but i guess nobody gets it anymore..

    Mrgreen09 and cowboy_tech Thank this.

I averaged 7.5 in a 78 mph truck all day long thanks to tall gears. The speed limiters is for rookies or insurance or both.

Btt. I know o/o and l/o that are doing ok with swift. But I also know two o/o with HVH doing a lot better.

Ok I became a L/O 4 month ago, and I drive team, what is by the way very very profitable, and the differents between 68 and 62 is at least 250$ a week. And that is a fact, no matter what anybody says.
You dont have to tell me anything about gearing or mountains. Why is it so hard to say, yes it is right you save alot of fuel when you slow down???I mean that is nothing what I just came up with. That is common knowledge....

This friend of mine wants me to go teams with him. Do both of you lease that truck, or how does that work? Ignore the dumbness on this, but it may help in future decisions. Thanks in advance.
