FMSCA has a toll free number available to the public. If the DOT or MCC number they gave you is valid (does not have to be active). You can verify their insurance through the automated system or make a inquiry to FMSCA about their insurance.
Your more then welcome to PM me for the 800-number. I just hope your making a valid claim and not fishing to make a false report. As Professional Drivers, we are just leery why you have not contacted the state troopers ? or Why your insurance company is not handling this better ?![]()

Thanks to the moderator for removing the drivers personal info, you are trying to help me the last thing I meant to do was offend.
And a big THANK YOU to all who replied to my request for help at least I have a place to start. I will be calling the DOT, and the State Police. I will also keep calling the Trucking Company and leaving msgs. I did find the 800# for FMCSA and will be contacting them. If after all this help I still need more info I will set up the publicdata account.
Just to add there was concern about this being some type of scam or fake report, it isnt the driver did give me the info I had in the post name, cdl #, trucking co name it is his insurance info that is in question. I also have cell pics from the scene of the truck and driver. As for not waiting for the police, lesson learned that wont happen again! My insurance co. did call the company the driver gave as his insurer and was told they had no record of the policy number or drivers name that seemed to be the extent of their efforts after that I was told to get an estimate for repairs and send/fax it to them .
Thanks again for all the help, I will keep you updated as to the outcome.johnday, rookietrucker and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
Not to butt in here, but I believe there was another post similar to this (a four-wheeler in an accident with a semi). From what I recall the conclusion of the post was that it was best to leave it with the insurance company rather than pursue this yourself. The insurance companies have paid full-time people that pursue cases like these and then they (your insurance and the trucking company's insurance, if there is any) negotiate the settlement outcome. There can be complications if you get involved directly.
I know it sounds kind of back-door, underhanded not very transparent, on the other-hand you probably just want it settled and taken care of.
I can't find the post for the life of me, but I do recall seeing it in the last month. -
I cant' PM so here's a link to the company's ins. info what there is of it. will probably have to copy and paste
