1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

If you are being paid on a 1099 the insurance is on you.
Also taxes will be on you.
Also, the back taxes and fines when the IRS decides you are an employee and not a contractor.
If that is not your truck, you are not a contractor. And as an employee he has to pull your taxes, pay into social security, unemployment, etc.
That is his JOB. Do not let him skirt his job.
This use to be common, and still is in some areas. But the IRS is looking for this hard these days. And you do not want to be on the receiving end when he is caught.

Why would you want a "1099" job anyway?
You always seem to end up with the 'short end of the stick' in such arraignments.

Yep, you don't want a 1099 job. IRS will be knocking on your door and most likely the guy you drive for.
There's another thread here somewhere. The owner is being taken to court because he didn't have workers comp on his employee.

Also someone like this won't be around when you try to get another job and they try to check your experience.

Quite possibly one of my threads. I have successfully sued two employers over that whole "1099 Independent-contractor" scam.
The thing that is almost always the same in all of those "1099" employment situations is, almost NEVER is anything put in writing, so when any conflict occurs, the employer ALWAYS claims something other than what the parties originally agreed to.

Funny, my dad is still in business.

Did you win? Was it one of those deals where the owner told you what to do?

Working on a 1099 is legal. Its just that alot of guys want to pay for an I/C but tell them what to do, thats not legal.
