Hey there, I have a 09 w900 aero Cab.. and have the regular sealed beam halogen headlights.. im at the Walcot I80 and there's a simple sealed beam/hid upgrade kit.. 100% plug and play that im really wanting.. question is.. will they honestly be brighter and look more like the new t660s headlights? I mean there an adapter harness that plugs right into my old lights power supply.. so im still just running the min. voltage to the lights.. right or will the bulbs draw out 60/90 volts? If so.. is that safe for my wiring system or harness? Will it put my strain on my alt? Thanks a lot for any info you have to share with me on this subject.. im hoping to get a response very soon as im 10 foot away from these kits and wanting to buy ASAP.

Yes they will be brighter and hotter, they will also not last as long because of the brighter and hotter burning light. -
i 100% disagree with that. HID work on a different principle then conventional halogen. HID use an arc of electricity to form light versus halogen uses a filament. HIDs last for years compared to a filament bulb

Dont mess with HID conversions unless you are happy with unsafe low visibility at night. I did it a few years ago to my F150 and it looked really good from the viewpoint of other people passing me but i couldnt see anything. I was going to do the conversion on my new Ram when I bought it a few years ago but only after I did some research on the internet so I would get it right. The conclusion I reached was that I's end up with much the same result as my F150 and in most states its not even legal to modify your headlights this way. There is more to it than a simple wire harness and new bulbs. A lot of research and development actually goes into the projector so the HID beams do a good job of iluminating. So unless you have a T660 with halogens that you would like to switch over with OEM parts to HID dont waste your money and time. Do what you want it's your money, I wouldnt....

Right, and aftermarket housings are garbage... and you wont be able to see anything at night..
He is talking about a w900 though so those would be self contained bulbs inside the glass housings but it's still going to be cheaply engineered overpriced aftermarket worthless junk imo and from my experience. When kenworth, volvo, or bmw and lexus for that matter designs and puts HID's in a vehicle they engineered and made right... You dont just slap HID's on a vehicle. Aftermarket HID conversions are unsafe overpriced junk... -
Wow, I had no idea.. I had seen a w900 with hids.. I believe a 05 model.. Vthe fellow said he had bought them off the internet.. But I forgot the company.. I believe he had to beef up wiring/circuit.. also a few other things.. But just for the low side set.. He spent 900 on them.. I was just hoping to get better sight out of my truck..
I know I see a lot of the older petes and what not with hids or atleast having blue halogens in there.. I guess I'm off to search and just find some really nice blue and bright 6054s. Thanks a lot for all the help.. Sure am glad I didn't buy these! -
Just get some of the "blue" halogens. They look just as good in my opinion and they won't compromise saftey/visibility. You can get them at any parts store auto zone, orielly's, even most petro and t/a truck shops have them. They typically cost a few dollars more than plain yellow halogens. 4 new bulbs you're looking at $50 to $75 maybe compared to almost $1,000 maybe more...
